CELTIC CONNECTIONS (JANUARY)

Glasgow's annual folk, roots and world music festival. Celtic Connections celebrates Celtic music and its connections to cultures across the globe.

Each year, over 2000 musicians from around the world descend on Glasgow and bring the city to life for 18 days of concerts, ceilidhs, talks art exhibitions, workshops, and free events.

GLASGOW FILM FESTIVAL (FEBRUARY)

The Glasgow Film Festival is the fastest-growing and third biggest film event in the United Kingdom with over 350 events taking place during the 10-day festival in February.

In recent years both Glasgow Cathedral and Glasgow Subway were turned into cinemas for the first time ever, whilst The Tall Ship hosted appropriately water-themed films.

THE GLASGOW INTERNATIONAL COMEDY FESTIVAL (MARCH)

The Glasgow International Comedy Festival is Europe's biggest comedy festival with a line up of both big league players and emerging talent performing over two and a half weeks in venues throughout the city. With over 350 shows in 40 venues across the city there is something to suit every age, taste and budget.

GLASGOW INTERNATIONAL (APRIL)

Glasgow International is a world-renowned biennial festival of contemporary art. Animating the city, Glasgow International showcases the best of local and international art for wide-ranging audiences. 

The festival showcases Glasgow as a unique major centre for the production and display of contemporary visual art. Taking place in various venues and locations across the city, including Glasgow's major art spaces and cultural institutions, the Festival is comprised of an ambitious programme which includes exhibitions, events, talks, performances and projects by international and Glasgow-based artists.

PIPING LIVE! AND THE WORLD PIPE BAND CHAMPIONSHIPS (AUGUST)

At Piping Live! there is something going on day and night in venues as varied as the programme.

Each year, pipers from all over the world converge on Glasgow Green to compete for the prestigious title. Don't miss a fantastic weekend of world class performances and events and activities for all the family.

GLASGOW'S WHISKY FESTIVAL (NOVEMBER)

Glasgow's Whisky Festival, the festival of Scotland's national drink is especially interested in distillers and bottlers from in and around Glasgow itself. The venue for the festival is The Arches and the festival offers keen whisky fans a whistle stop tour of every region in Scotland, along with excursions to points further afield.
